Adrenal Glands The two adrenal glands are triangular-shaped glands situated on top of every kidney. The adrenal glands are made up of two parts. The outer part is named the adrenal cortex, and the inner part is called the adrenal medulla. The external part produces hormones called corticosteroids, which regulate the body`s metabolism, the balance of salt and drinking water in the physical body, the immune system, and sexual function. The internal component, or adrenal medulla, generates hormones called catecholamines . These hormones help your body cope with physical and emotional stress by increasing the heartrate and blood pressure. The analysis was published online Sept. 14 and will appear in the October print issue of Pediatrics. ADHD and Autism have become different neurological conditions, but they share a true number of symptoms, genetic factors and mind pathways, the analysis authors said in background information. For example, children who are hyperactive, impulsive and inattentive could possibly be diagnosed with ADHD, but similar symptoms are found in kids with autism spectrum disorder also, the study said. To see whether an early on medical diagnosis of ADHD would interfere with detection of autism, the researchers looked at data on nearly 1,500 children with autism drawn from the 2011-2012 National Survey of Children’s Health.
